program.

11.00 – 12.00         Introduction

We will introduce the project, the people and research behind it, and also a brief sum up of the day. We would also like to hear a little about you and your plant.

12.00 – 12.15             Break

12.15 – 12.45             Session 1: Relations

Through exercises, we will in this session build, enforce and deepen the relation between you and your plant.

12.45 – 13.15             Session 2: Technology

We have created a plant-radio for you to bring home, so in this session you will get to know how it works. With this device you will be able to tap into your plant’s electrophysiological signals and thereby communicate with your plant.

14.00 – 15.00           Session 3: Creativity

practical info.

Participants will bring their own plant, as long as it doesn’t carry any transmittable diseases.

The Growing CoDesign workshop is free of charge - all we expect from participants is their time and investment as described above.

Any work produced as part of the Growing CoDesign project will be returned to the participants by its conclusion.

Application is now closed. But the application form is still active for potential future workshops.

In the application form please tell us a little about yourself, your plant and your creative practice (please include some imagery - or website link - again, it does not have to be professional and it will not be shared - it’s just for us to get a feel of who you are).

  • Creative practice.

Participants are expected to have some sort of already developed creative practice. It could be anything - from drawing and painting to blacksmithing or pottery. Or maybe needlework or cooking or coding? We do not expect the participant to be an established artist, designer or craftsperson, what is important is that they have a creative skill that they are comfortable with.

  • Home exercises.

Participants must be willing and able to produce a collaborative creative work together with a plant of their choosing over the three weeks following the workshop . During this time period they will receive a number of little relational exercises to carry out with their plant partner (approx. 2 x 30 min. weekly) - so they have to have the time to invest for that.

  • Plant radio and creation process.

in the workshop, participants will receive a plant-radio to install in their homes that will help them communicate with their plant (we will provide guidance of how to do this at the workshop). At the end of the 3 weeks we will pick it up together with their creative work and interview them about the experience and their creative process (approx. 45 min).
